Gaoping is a county-level city located in the southeastern region of Shanxi Province, China. It operates under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Jincheng.
The city possesses a long history that dates back to the Warring States period. A significant portion of the area was formerly known as Changping, which served as the site of a notable battle in 260 BCE between the rival States of Qin and Zhao.
