Xinzhou is a prefecture-level city located in the north-central section of Shanxi Province in the People's Republic of China. It borders Hebei Province to the east, Shaanxi Province to the west, and Inner Mongolia to the northwest. The city was historically known by the ancient name Xiurong.
As of 2022, Xinzhou has a permanent population of approximately 2,655,563 residents. It serves as a significant administrative center within its region of Shanxi Province.
