Yangjiang is a prefecture-level city located in the southwestern region of Guangdong Province, China. It is situated along the coast, bordering the South China Sea to the south, with neighboring jurisdictions including Maoming to the west, Yunfu to the north, and Jiangmen to the east.
The city's population was recorded at 2,602,959 during the 2020 census. A significant portion of these residents, totaling 1,292,987 people, reside within the urbanized areas of the Jiangcheng and Yangdong Districts. The local dialect spoken in the region is Gaoyang, which is a branch of Yue Chinese.
