Shijian

China

Shijian refers to a series of satellites built and operated by the People's Republic of China. While it shares a name with a city in China, the term specifically identifies this orbital satellite program.

The Shijian-series satellites have drawn significant attention from space observers and the United States government. Concerns regarding these satellites stem from unannounced launches, the deployment of undisclosed sub-satellites in orbit, and unusual orbital maneuvers. Additionally, they have demonstrated rendezvous proximity operations (RPO), which include the close inspection and towing of other satellites.
