Guzhu was an ancient vassal state located in the vicinity of modern-day Tangshan in Hebei province, China. It is identified as a Dongyi state that maintained close relations with King Tang of the Shang dynasty, with both entities sharing the clan name Zi.
During the Western Zhou dynasty, the rise of the Lichi and Shanrong tribes in the north-west and north-east regions caused significant concern for Guzhu's southern neighbors, specifically the states of Qi and Yan. In 664 BC, the monarch of the weakened Guzhu state was killed by a coalition of Qi and Yan during an expedition against the Shanrong. The state was ultimately annexed by Qi and Yan in 660 BC.
