Gaoxin (also known as Gāoxīn Shì or Qūn) refers to a historical and mythological figure rather than a modern geographical city. According to various sources, Gaoxin was a descendant of the Yellow Emperor who eventually received imperial authority.
Upon receiving this authority, he adopted the name Ku and the title Di, becoming known as Di Ku. He is recognized in Chinese mythology as one of the Five Emperors of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. While some sources treat him as a semi-historical figure, others attribute fantastic mythological or religious qualities to his lineage, which is considered the ancestor of several subsequent ruling families.
