Foshan, also known as Fatshan, is a prefecture-level city located in the central region of Guangdong Province, China. The city occupies an area of 3,848 km2 (1,486 sq mi) and had a recorded population of 9,498,863 according to the 2020 census.
The city is situated on the western side of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis. This conurbation houses approximately 86,100,000 inhabitants, making it the largest urban area in the world.
