Dongguan is a prefecture-level city located in the central region of Guangdong Province, China. It serves as a significant industrial hub within the Pearl River Delta. The city is geographically situated along the Pearl River to the west and shares borders with Guangzhou to the north, Huizhou to the northeast, and Shenzhen to the south.
As part of the broader Pearl River Delta built-up area, Dongguan covers a total area of 19,870 square kilometers. According to the 2020 census, the region's population exceeds 65.57 million inhabitants distributed across nine municipalities.
