Dashan is the Chinese stage name of Mark Henry Rowswell, a Canadian performer and television personality who gained significant prominence within the People's Republic of China. He first rose to fame in the late 1980s through frequent appearances on China Central Television (CCTV).
Rowswell became well-known for his work in xiangsheng, a traditional Chinese comedic art form. While he maintains a less public profile in Canada, he established a substantial presence in Chinese media as a non-Chinese national participating in domestic programming. Since 2012, Dashan has focused on solo live performances and has contributed to the development of the stand-up comedy scene in China.
