Xiaodian District is one of six districts located within the prefecture-level city of Taiyuan, which serves as the capital of Shanxi Province in North China. The district encompasses a total land area of 295 square kilometers.
The district was officially established in 1998 during a boundary reorganization process. It was formed by incorporating select townships and sub-districts from the former Nanjiao District and Nancheng District.
