Weinan is a prefecture-level city located in the east-central region of Shaanxi province in northwest China. It is situated approximately 60 km (37 mi) east of Xi'an, the provincial capital.
The city is geographically positioned at the lower section of the confluence where the Wei River meets the Yellow River. Its borders extend to the east, touching the provinces of Shanxi and Henan.
