Yuncheng is a prefecture-level city located in the southernmost region of Shanxi province, China. It shares borders with Linfen and Jincheng municipalities to the north and east, while bordering Henan and Shaanxi (Weinan) provinces to its east, south, and west.
According to the 2020 census, the city has a total population of 4,774,508 inhabitants. Of this population, 928,334 residents live within the built-up area of Yanhu District. Additionally, Pinglu County, which had a population of 205,080 in the south, is currently part of the Sanmenxia built-up area.
