Qufu is a county-level city located in southwestern Shandong province in East China. It occupies an area of 815 square kilometers and has a total population of 653,000 inhabitants, with approximately 188,000 residents living in urban areas.
The city is situated about 130 kilometres south of the provincial capital, Jinan, and 45 kilometres northeast of the prefectural seat of Jining.
