Laiyang is a county-level city located in the middle of the Shandong Peninsula within Shandong province, China. It borders the city of Qingdao.
The city has a population primarily composed of farmers, who make up approximately 70% of its residents. As of 2010, the total population was recorded at 923,000. Laiyang is notably famous for its production of the Laiyang pear.
