The Guan Li is a traditional Confucian coming-of-age ceremony practiced in China. It serves as a formal ritual for young men to transition into adulthood, at which point they are permitted to assume social responsibilities and identify themselves as adults.
According to the Li Ji, the Guan Li is one of the "four rites" of Confucianism, alongside marriage, mourning rites, and sacrificial rituals. The ceremony is distinguished by the use of a guan, while the corresponding ritual for women, known as the Ji Li, involves the use of a ji. Both ceremonies hold significant symbolic meaning within Han Chinese culture.
