Binzhou is a prefecture-level city located in the northern region of Shandong Province, China. Formerly known as Putai, the city's geography is defined by its proximity to the Yellow River. The city proper is situated on the northern bank of the river, while its broader administrative area extends across both sides of the lower course before reaching its present delta.
According to the 2020 Chinese census, Binzhou has a total population of 3,928,568 inhabitants. The urban infrastructure is primarily concentrated in the Bincheng and Zhanhua urban districts, which together house a population of 1,188,597 people.
