Yueyang is a prefecture-level city located in the northeastern corner of Hunan Province in the People's Republic of China. It is situated on the eastern shores of Dongting Lake and along the Yangtze River.
Historically, the city was known by the names Yuezhou or Baling before being referred to as Yueyang.
