Zhabei, formerly romanized as Chapei, is a neighborhood and former district located in Shanghai, China. It covers a land area of approximately 29.26 square kilometers (11.30 square miles) and had a resident population of 847,300 as of 2013.
The area is notable for being the location of the Shanghai railway station, which serves as one of the primary railway hubs in the city. On November 4, 2015, Zhabei was officially merged into the more central Jing'an District.
