Hebei is a province located in North China. It serves as a significant geographic hub, bordering Shanxi to the west, Henan to the south, Shandong and Liaoning to the east, and Inner Mongolia to the north. Notably, the province entirely surrounds the direct-administered municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin on land.
As China's sixth-most populous province, Hebei has a population exceeding 75 million people. The capital and largest city of the province is Shijiazhuang. The demographic composition is predominantly Han Chinese at 96%, with smaller populations of Manchu (3%), Hui (0.8%), and Mongol (0.3%).
The region is linguistically diverse, featuring several varieties of Chinese. These include Jilu Mandarin, the Beijing dialect of Mandarin, and Jin Chinese.
