Tangshan is a coastal, industrial prefecture-level city located in the northeastern part of Hebei province, China. It sits within the eastern portion of the province and the northeastern section of the North China Plain.
The city occupies a central position in the Bohai Rim and serves as a primary traffic corridor to the Northeast region. Geographically, Tangshan is bordered by the Bohai Sea to the south, the Yan Mountains to the north, Qinhuangdao across the Luan River to the east, and Tianjin to the west.
