Tongliao is a prefecture-level city located in the eastern region of Inner Mongolia, China. It serves as an administrative hub for a vast area covering 59,535 square kilometres (22,987 sq mi). Historically, the city functioned as the administrative center of the now-defunct Jirem League.
As of the 2020 census, the total population of the Tongliao prefecture was 2,873,168. The city proper consists of the Horqin district, which recorded a population of 921,808 during the same census period.
