Chifeng is a prefecture-level city located in the southeastern region of Inner Mongolia, China. It serves as a significant administrative hub and was formerly the administrative center of the Ju Ud League. The city shares borders with Xilin Gol League to the north and west, Tongliao to the northeast, Chaoyang (Liaoning) to the southeast, and Chengde (Hebei) to the south.
The city covers a total administrative area of 90,275 square kilometers. According to the 2020 census, Chifeng had a population of 4,035,967 inhabitants. The primary built-up area consists of two urban districts, Hongshan and Songshan, which house approximately 1,175,391 residents. While Songshan remains partially rural, the Yuanbaoshan district functions as a de facto separate town located 27 kilometers away from the core city center.
