Huludao

Huludao is a coastal prefecture-level city located in the southwestern region of Liaoning province, China. Formerly known as Jinxi until 1994, the city covers a total area of 10,582 km2 (4,086 sq mi). As of the 2020 census, its population reached 2,434,194, with over half of these residents living within the conurbated urban districts and Xingcheng City.

The name Huludao translates literally to "Gourd Island." This designation refers to the specific fiddle-shaped contour of the peninsula at the city's Longgang District, which resembles a bottle gourd. The city's geography is defined by this coastal positioning and its distinct physical landforms.
