Anshan is an inland prefecture-level city located in the central-southeast region of Liaoning province, China. It is situated approximately 92 kilometres (57 mi) south of Shenyang, the provincial capital. The city covers a total area of about 9,270 km2 (3,580 sq mi), spanning roughly 133 km (83 mi) from east to west.
As of the 2020 census, Anshan was the third most populous city in Liaoning province, with a total population of 3,325,372 people. Its built-up area is largely conurbated and includes four urban districts of Anshan, four out of five urban districts of Liaoyang, and Liaoyang county, which together housed 2,712,789 inhabitants in 2020.
