Jiujiang, formerly transliterated as Kiukiang and Kew-Keang, is a prefecture-level city in the People's Republic of China. It is situated on the southern shores of the Yangtze River in northwest Jiangxi Province. The city borders Poyang Lake, which is recognized as the largest freshwater lake in China.
As the second-largest prefecture-level city in Jiangxi, Jiujiang serves as a significant maritime hub and is the fourth largest port on the Yangtze River. It was among the first five cities opened to foreign trade along the river following Deng Xiaoping's Opening-Up Policy. Currently, it remains the only international trade port city within Jiangxi Province.
