Beihai is a prefecture-level city located in the southern region of Guangxi, China. Situated on the north shore of the Gulf of Tonkin, it serves as a significant seaport that has historically functioned as an international trade port for several inland provinces, including Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan.
The city is characterized by its economic activity in maritime commerce and shipbuilding. While Beihai possesses a large shipyard, the majority of the revenue generated within the city is derived from trade. Between 2006 and 2020, Beihai was projected to be the fastest-growing city in the world.
