Shajing is a city located in China. The region is historically significant for the Shajing culture, an ancient Iron Age civilization situated in Gansu province to the northwest of the Central Plains.
The Shajing culture was primarily based on pastoral nomadism and shares close associations with the Saka culture of Xinjiang, the Ordos culture of Inner Mongolia, and the Upper Xiajiadian culture of Liaoning. Archaeological evidence from the area includes fortified settlements constructed with walls of compacted loess.
Key archaeological sites associated with this culture include the village of Shajing, located approximately 250 km northwest of Wuwei, and the village of Yushugou, which lies about 140 km to its southeast. As of 2017, excavations have identified seven distinct sites in the region.
