Jiuquan is a prefecture-level city located in the northwesternmost part of Gansu Province in the People's Republic of China. Formerly known as Suzhou, the city covers a vast geographic area of 191,342 km² (73,878 sq mi) and extends more than 600 km (370 mi) from east to west.
While the city encompasses a large territory, its primary built-up area is concentrated within the Suzhou District. It serves as a significant administrative and geographical point in the northwestern region of the province.
