Wusu, officially known as Usu, is a county-level city located in the Xinjiang region of western China. It serves as an oasis within the Dzungarian Basin and is situated between the major cities of Bole and Shihezi in northern Xinjiang. Geographically, it lies west of Ürümqi, the capital of Xinjiang, and south of Karamay.
The city is part of the Tacheng Prefecture within the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture. With a population exceeding 100,000 residents, Wusu's economy is primarily driven by oil production.
