Temeke District, officially known as the Temeke Municipal Council, is one of five districts located in the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. It covers a total area of 150.4 km² (58.1 sq mi), a landmass comparable in size to the Cook Islands. The district is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the north, the Ilala District to the northwest, Kigamboni District to the east, and the Mkuranga District of the Pwani Region to the south.
The administrative seat of the district is Miburani. Temeke is home to several significant national landmarks, including the Port of Dar es Salaam, which is the largest port in the country, and the National Stadium, the nation's largest stadium. The district also hosts the University of Dar es Salaam's School of Education and Chamazi Stadium, the largest privately owned stadium in Tanzania. According to the 2012 National Tanzania Census, the population of the district was 1,205,949.
