Zhifang

Shifang is a county-level city located in Sichuan Province, China. It operates under the administration of the Deyang prefecture-level city and is situated approximately 50 kilometers (31 mi) from the provincial capital, Chengdu. The city covers an area of 863 square kilometers (333 sq mi) and had a recorded population of 406,775 in 2020.

The city possesses a history spanning over two thousand years. In modern history, Shifang suffered significant damage during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. It was also notable for hosting a large-scale environmental protest in July 2012 regarding a local copper smelting plant.
