Yue, also known as Yuyue, was an ancient state located in China during the first millennium BC. It existed primarily during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods of the Zhou dynasty. The territory of the state encompassed areas that correspond to the modern-day provinces of Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Jiangsu.
The original capital of Yue was Kuaiji. Following its conquest of Wu, the state relocated its court northward to the city of Wu. The state eventually fell to the kingdom of Chu in 333 BC.
