Yangzhai is an ancient name for Yuzhou, a county-level city located in the central part of Henan Province, China. The city occupies the northwest corner of the prefecture-level city of Xuchang and has been known by various historical names, including Junzhou, Yingchuan, Xiadu, Jundu, and Medicine Capital.
The name Yangzhai is associated with Yu the Great, the founder of the Xia Dynasty. The local government claims that both the dynasty's capital and its founding occurred in present-day Yuzhou. As a result, Yu the Great serves as a primary symbol for the city, and a statue of him stands in Yuzhou.
