Shekou is an area located at the southern tip of the Nanshan District in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. Geographically, it faces Yuen Long, Hong Kong, across the waters of the Shenzhen Bay.
The region has been designated by the Chinese government as a free-trade zone. It shares this status with other areas including Qianhai, Hengqin, and the Nansha New Area.
