Macheng is a county-level city located in northeastern Hubei province, China. It serves as an administrative division under Huanggang City and shares borders with Henan province to the north and Anhui province to the northeast.
The city covers an area of approximately 3,747 square kilometres (1,447 sq mi) and is situated adjacent to the southern side of the Dabie Mountains. Its administrative territory encompasses about 704 villages and small towns. According to the 2020 census, Macheng had a total population of 893,654 residents.
