Hanchuan is a county-level city located in east-central Hubei province, People's Republic of China. It falls under the administration of the Xiaogan prefecture-level city and is situated on the left bank of the Han River, positioned a few tens of kilometres upstream from Wuhan. While the primary urban area is concentrated on the left bank, the administrative boundaries of the county-level city also encompass land on the right bank of the river.
The city is served by the Hanchuan railway station, which is part of the Wuhan–Yichang railway line. Notable connections include its status as a sister city to Martinez, California, in the United States. Additionally, Hanchuan is recognized as the birthplace of OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.
