Caidian District is one of the 13 urban districts that make up the prefecture-level city of Wuhan, which serves as the capital of China's Hubei Province. Located in the southwestern suburbs of the city, the district is situated on the northwestern (left) bank of the Yangtze River.
The district shares borders with several other administrative areas. On its own side of the river, it is bordered by Dongxihu to the north, Hanyang to the northeast, and Hannan to the south. It also neighbors Xiaogan to the northwest and Xiantao to the southwest. Across the Yangtze River, it borders the districts of Jiangxia and Hongshan.
