Zhangshu is a county-level city located in the west-central part of Jiangxi Province, China. Formerly known as Qingjiang County (Tsingkiang), it currently operates under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Yichun. The city covers an area of 1,291 km² and has a population of approximately 536,500 residents.
The name Zhangshu translates literally to "Camphor laurel," reflecting the city's historical status as a major commercial hub for camphor laurel oil. Today, it is officially recognized as the Medicine Capital of China and is renowned for its production of Chinese medicinal herbs. The region hosts thousands of pharmaceutical companies, including the Renhe Group, one of the top ten medicine producers in the country. Hundreds of thousands of varieties of Chinese herbal medicines are sold in the city through both bulk and retail channels.
