Paibi is a village located in Paibi Township, Huayuan County, within the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province, China. It serves as a significant geological site due to its role in defining global stratigraphic boundaries.
The village is the location of the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) marking the transition between the third and Furongian epochs of the Cambrian Period. Ratified by the International Union of Geological Sciences in late 2003, this site established the first formally agreed-upon subdivision of the Cambrian period. The village is also the namesake for the Paibian Age.
