Kaiping, also known by its Cantonese name Hoiping or local dialect name Hoihen, is a county-level city located in the western section of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province, China. It is administered as part of the prefecture-level city of Jiangmen and covers an area of 1,659 square kilometres (641 sq mi). As of 2020, the city had a population of 748,777.
The region surrounding Kaiping, particularly Sze Yup, is recognized as "qiaoxiang," a title signifying its status as an ancestral homeland for many overseas Chinese, specifically those residing in the United States. The local population speaks a variant of the Sze Yup dialect.
