Xuchang is a prefecture-level city located in the central region of Henan province in China. It serves as an administrative hub within the interior of the country.
The city is situated near several other major regional centers, including the provincial capital of Zhengzhou to its northwest and Kaifeng to the northeast. It shares borders with Zhoukou to the east, Luohe to the southeast, and Pingdingshan to the southwest.
