Shangqiu, also romanized as Shangkiu, is a city located in eastern Henan province in Central China. It serves as a regional hub bordering Kaifeng to the northwest and Zhoukou to the southwest. The city further shares borders with the provinces of Shandong to the northeast and Anhui to the southeast.
According to the 2020 Chinese census, Shangqiu has a total population of 7,816,831 inhabitants. Of this population, 2,831,814 reside within the built-up area, which consists of two urban districts and Yucheng county currently undergoing conurbation.
