Nanzhao

China

Nanzhao, also spelled Nanchao, was a dynastic kingdom that flourished during the mid-to-late Tang dynasty between the 8th and 9th centuries. The kingdom was located in what is now southwestern China and northern Southeast Asia.

The kingdom was centered on present-day Yunnan province in China, with its capitals situated in modern-day Dali City. During its history, the state held different official names: it was known as Dameng from 738 to 859 AD, Dali from 859 to 877, and Dafengmin from 877 to 902.
