Mount Lu, also known as Lushan, is a prominent mountain located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, China. Historically referred to as Kuanglu, the mountain and its surrounding area are officially designated as the Lushan National Park. It is recognized as one of the most renowned mountains in the country.
The oval-shaped mountain measures approximately 25 kilometers (16 mi) in length and 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) in width. Geographically, it neighbors the Yangtze River to the north, Nanchang to the south, and Poyang Lake to the east. While primarily situated within Lushan City, its northern portions extend into the Lianxi District of Jiujiang.
The highest point of Mount Lu is Dahanyang Peak, which reaches an elevation of 1,474 meters (4,836 ft) above sea level. The mountain features hundreds of steep peaks that frequently tower above a "sea of clouds," a phenomenon that can encompass the area for nearly 200 days each year.
