Luoyang is a prefecture-level city located in the western part of Henan province, China. It is situated specifically in the confluence area where the Luo River meets the Yellow River. The city borders several other regions, including Zhengzhou to the east, Pingdingshan to the southeast, Nanyang to the south, Sanmenxia to the west, Jiyuan to the north, and Jiaozuo to the northeast.
As of 2022, Luoyang Municipality has a permanent population of approximately 7.079 million people. Its administrative jurisdiction encompasses seven municipal districts, seven counties, and one development zone. The city's built-up area consists of five out of its six urban districts along with the conurbated Yanshi District.
