Dengzhou is a county-level city located in the Nanyang region of Henan Province, China. Formerly known as Deng County, the city covers a total area of 2,294 square kilometers (886 square miles) and has a total population of approximately 1,500,000 people. The urbanized portion of the city encompasses 35 square kilometers with an urban population of 300,000.
Geographically, Dengzhou is situated in the southwest of Henan Province, bordering the provinces of Hubei and Shaanxi. It occupies a notable geographic position as it lies in the center of the triangle formed by the cities of Zhengzhou, Wuhan, and Xi'an, remaining roughly equidistant from all three major urban centers.
