Wuchang is an urban district located in the prefecture-level city of Wuhan, which serves as the capital of China's Hubei Province. It is historically significant as one of the three original cities that merged to form the modern-day metropolitan area of Wuhan.
Geographically, Wuchang is situated on the right (southeastern) bank of the Yangtze River. It sits directly opposite the mouth of the Han River, distinguishing it from the other two constituent cities, Hanyang and Hankou, which are located on the left (northwestern) bank.
