Quanzhou is a prefecture-level port city located on the north bank of the Jin River in southern Fujian, People's Republic of China. Situated beside the Taiwan Strait, it serves as the most populous metropolitan region in the Fujian province.
As of the 2020 census, the city has a population of 8,782,285 across an area of 11,245 square kilometers. The built-up area encompasses several administrative divisions, including the Licheng, Fengze, and Luojiang urban districts; the cities of Jinjiang, Nan'an, and Shishi; Hui'an County; and the Quanzhou District for Taiwanese Investment.
In 2010, Quanzhou was ranked as China's 12th-largest extended metropolitan area. The city remains a significant regional hub characterized by its extensive urban infrastructure and coastal location.
