Putian is a prefecture-level city located in Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. It is also known by the names Puyang, Puxian, and historically as Hinghwa, Hinghua, or Henghua.
The city is geographically situated bordering Fuzhou to the north and Quanzhou to the south. To its east lies the Xinghua Bay of the Taiwan Strait, while the Mulan River flows through the city's territory.
