Luoyang is a prefecture-level city located in the western part of Henan province, China. It is situated in the confluence area where the Luo River and the Yellow River meet. The city borders several other regions, including Zhengzhou to the east, Pingdingshan to the southeast, Nanyang to the south, Sanmenxia to the west, Jiyuan to the north, and Jiaozuo to the northeast.
As of 2022, Luoyang Municipality has a permanent population of approximately 7.079 million people. The city's jurisdiction encompasses seven municipal districts, seven counties, and one development zone. A significant portion of its population resides within the built-up area, which consists of five out of its six urban districts along with the conurbated Yanshi District.
